Technology in Lutheran Schools

Technology in Lutheran Schools

Hi everyone,

At St. John we are developing a formal "learning community" approach to our technology professional development. I have a link to our initial overview (philosophy, goals, etc), meeting planner, and session "exit cards." Would anyone be willing to check it out and give me some feedback on it?

This is our first attempt at setting up any type of formal learning community. Our first sessions are today.

The one major piece I haven't gone into detail about is the way we will digitally track our collective learning. That will most likely be on our school wiki site: http://stjstl.wikispaces.com
Haven't wanted to scare any of our staff away quite yet :-)

Am I missing anything there? Does the format lend itself to being differentiated with teachers? Improvements? Things to consider?

Thanks in advance for any feedback you have time to help with!

Just go ahead and leave any comments here on my blog page!

THANKS!

Do you ever wonder how the creators of tools like like come up with the names?

One thing I did forget to mention is maybe using http://wiggio.com/

I am going with a Wiki. Don't know why, just am. I figure it would be easy for them to find the topic they are looking for and still can have the forum part in the discussions.

I think the blog/forum format of the ning might work well. Originally I was thinking of the teachers having personal blogs where they could journal about their learning but the ning would let them do that and collaborate as well.

Thx for the feedback. I purposefully hadn't put in anything about PLN's yet.....yet......
In reality, the things that we are looking to do will eventually push them into an online PLN without them even realizing it :-)

Which leads me to my next dilemma: How do we want our staff to aggregate their learning? A wiki? Social Network (NING)?

Leaning toward a wiki, but I'm keeping an open mind.

It looks like a very good start. I think including some information about personal learning networks with teachers and others outside of the community might be useful as well.

I love your AKA's for each section. That helps to explain it in plain english.

I think it is great and love the exit cards idea.
