I'd appreciate that. I'm at home right now. I'll try to give you a call from school tomorrow. I won't be in until about 11. Will you still be there?

Filtering Software

Does anyone have any filtering software reccommendations for school use? We are currently using Filtergate which is inexpensive but easy to get around and has to be constantly reinstalled.

Google

I am working on Google Apps with the education edition setting up gmail within our own domain, setting up users for gmail and setting up to use docs and spreedsheets through Google Apps.

Has anyone used any of this in a school setting before?

My son and husband are really into computers and the web. I have learned a lot from them. They both continue to encourage me to try new things. I am slowing learning.

Hi Karen
Was just curious if Our Savior is where Scott and Becky Kamman are serving? If they are, tell them Hi. Scott was my best man in my wedding! I haven't been that good at staying in touch with him!

Karen: You sound like me. I have pretty much taught myself everything I know (which isn't much. We were blessed with a great principal who provided us with much of the materials needed to bring the world into our school. I, too am looking forward to learning from this site.

This site is brand new, thanks to Rob Jacklin. Rob and I have been brainstorming how we can better engage other teachers in Lutheran schools in the essential collaborative conversations we need to be having in order for all of us to make sense of our technological world for the benefit of our students and their futures.

Glad you are here. Let us all know what you would like to discuss and how we can help you.

Glad to be here. I wish I had discovered this sooner. I was at NECC and didn't know how to find out if any other Lutheran teachers were there. We are slow moving with technology at our school here in Louisville. I'm going on my 3rd year here at Our Savior. I kind of fell into the job as computer teacher. They have been through several in the short life of the lab. I'm a self taught computer geek, but there is sooo much I need to learn. I'm excited about getting into newer and bigger things with my students as soon as I figure them out myself.
